Before starting as an independent employment lawyer, Rob worked in international private practice and as in-house counsel for more than 25 years.
In 1998, he started his career at Clifford Chance, a renowned international law firm. For this firm, he also spent some time working in London.
After several years as in-house counsel, including for C&A Netherlands and Olympia Uitzendbureau, he joined the corporate employment law practice of international law firm Freshfields in Amsterdam. For this firm, he was later seconded to Hong Kong to help develop their Asian employment law practice.
After this, Rob worked at Greenberg Traurig, where he led the employment law practice as Counsel.
In 2018, he moved to VEON, an international telecoms company, where he participated in a large project to restructure its international headquarters based in Amsterdam.
Most recently until 2024, Rob worked at international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was responsible for the employment law team.
In these years and roles, Rob gained extensive experience in employment law. He advised several (inter)national companies in individual and collective dismissal cases. Furthermore, he was involved in many mergers and acquisitions. For several companies, he worked on extensive restructuring projects.
Rob speaks Dutch, English, French, German and Italian. He is a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), the Association for Employment Law (VVA) and the Amsterdam Association for Employment Lawyers (VAAA).
With his knowledge and years of (international) experience, Rob advises large and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs on the legal aspects of their employees in the Netherlands.
He advises and litigates on various employment law issues, including individual and collective dismissal, employment contracts and collective labour agreements, business restructurings, and consultation processes with a works council.
Rob also supports employees. C-Level executives and senior management employees can turn to him for questions about dismissal, a non-competition clause, bonuses or their appointment as a statutory director or supervisory board member, among other things.
For extra capacity, Rob is available on an interim basis to support law firms or companies. He offers interim legal services in the event of longer absences of your specialists or for large projects requiring additional knowledge and expertise.
Clients describe Rob as a good listener with a personal approach, focused on strategic and practical solutions. With his international experience in private practice and in-house counsel, he has a good eye for his clients’ business needs.
Having worked abroad twice for extended periods of time, Rob has developed a good understanding of other cultures and with that gained a broader perspective.
Rob has registered employment law as his area of law with the Dutch Bar Association’s register of areas of law.
Based on this registration, he is required to obtain a minimum of ten training points each calendar year according to the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
